Eco-QuestionsWhy are USB drives considered environmentally friendly?
USB drives can be pre-loaded with data, a simple process of pre-loading or copying files into a USB flash drive. You can use pre-loaded drives to distribute all sorts of files to customers, employees, students, etc. You can preload any file type and as many different files as you want. The most common pre-loads are PDF brochures or catalogs, movie clips (commercials or training videos), PowerPoint presentations, and Word documents.
In addition to saving paper, USB drives are a more durable and convenient alternative to writable CDs and DVDs. A CD/DVD disc must be protected from dirt and scratches, and a CD has a far smaller data capacity than a USB drive. Files can be written to a USB drive several thousand times, and the device can be safely placed in a pocket or on a lanyard. We also have a selection of portfolio folders with sleeves for USB drives.
By distributing your files on a USB flash drive you save on the cost of printing and you help the environment.

What is FSC or FSC Certified? |
 |
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-profit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable way. | Landowners and companies that sell timber or forest products seek certification as a way to verify to consumers that they have practiced forestry consistent with FSC standards. Independent, certification organizations are accredited by FSC to carry out assessments of forest management to determine if standards have been met. These certifiers also verify that companies claiming to sell FSC certified products have tracked their supply back to FSC certified sources. This chain of custody certification assures that consumers can trust the FSC label.
Trusted environmental organizations including Greenpeace, National Wildlife Federation, The Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, and World Wildlife Fund all support and encourage FSC certification. Consumers wishing to support healthy forests and communities should look and ask for the FSC label when purchasing wood or paper products.
For more information about the FSC, visit their website at http://www.fscus.org. To understand how FSC certification differs from other forestry programs, click hereto read the Sierra Club's position paper on this topic.
